Speed up video in Storyline?
Is there a way to speed up video in storyline? I am creating a software tutorial and my screen recordinga are really painful because it takes so long for they typing. Can I speed up sections of the video so the viewer doesnt have to pull their hair out waiting for me to hunt and pack across the keyboard?

Hi Kate and welcome to Heroes!
There isn't a method to speed the screen recording up with Storyline - you may want to look at exporting the video and changing it within another video editing tool.

A quick way is to import your video into Camtasia Studio, set speed to 150% or 200% and produce the video. try not to include the audio or the sound will also be pitched and sped up.
Hi David,
This thread is a bit older, and I'm not certain that folks are still subscribed - but I'm also unsure of your solution, so you may want to share a bit more information about what you're looking to set up or recommending.

Hi Ashley, I was hoping you might know of a solution. I think David's issue, and mine, is that we need to speed up portions of the videos from our screen casts on individual slides, the way we might do if we were using the non-linear editing functions in Flash, PremierePro or AfterEffects.
In all of these options the video is added to an internal library, and you're able to cut the clips and rearrange them on a timeline. This would be similar to our being able to rearrange the slides, as each slide within a step-by-step demo would be considered a clip.
Each clip segment references the original source video, but you can control aspects of each individual clip, such as the speed/duration, and other visual effects without changing the master source.
Is speeding the playback of a videoclip segment on a slide possible in Storyline 2?
Hi Kayneisha,
It's not currently possible in Storyline 2 - and you can see the video editing options and screen recording editing options available here.
It would be something you're welcome to share your thoughts on in the form of a feature request though!

I have added this to the feature request and told the sales folks about it. There is a competitor that speeds up the video simply by shortening the timeline bar. Storyline really needs to add the feature.
Thanks Scott for sharing your feedback in multiple avenues. If there is anything else we can assist with, please let us know.

Hey Raju!
Thanks for chiming in. While it's not something you can currently do with Storyline's video editing features, perhaps someone will be able to share ideas of how you could accomplish this outside of Storyline!
