Storyline 360 SDK

Hello! My lack of ability to find an answer to this question, and the dead links whenever the topic comes up, is probably an answer in and of itself- but I figured I'd check!

Does anyone know if there is a Software Development Kit for Storyline available? I am attempting to automate slide creation and editing for some projects I'm working on and the ability to type up everything in Excel and then run a script would be a gamechanger- but I don't know enough of the backend of Articulate to do that as it currently stands.

If anyone has an idea if that is available (or an alternative- I'm not picky) I would love to hear it!

  • Hi Lee!

Thanks for reaching out! At this time, we do not have an SDK available for Storyline 360. However, there is a Storyline SDK user group here that may be able to help you!

I’ll defer to our knowledgeable community members who may have advice on how you could accomplish this!

  • As i tried the same before...it doesnot work due to the way Articulate obsfuscates code and files. Try changing the .story of a project to .zip Unzip that file into a folder and check the contents. All is there... and in theory you could exchange images, texts, everything for something else. But the moment you exchange a file for some other named file...well it stops working. Basically the files in the zip are referred to on numerous spots and thus its really tough to find where to change them. Trying exactly the same thing with ELB Lectora and it is successfull. Mainly due to the open XML format Lectora writes its source files too.

Here you see a sample of that i made in 2015.

What you see happening is that a hotfolder solution will trigger a jsx-script that automatically exports pngs and jpgs and creates a .awt ( file format for Lectora ) including actions and triggers to zoom/show/hide elements. Based on this i made a setup that automagically created courses. i presented this workflow for Lectora at Userconference in 2016 in Fort Lauderdale.

Later i tried getting this done for Storyline, but the more closed nature of SL prevented this to work.
