Storyline Cache files
I am having the same problem with retained temporary files. I kept getting messages saying that there was no room on my PC to save projects and I couldn't figure out what was taking up so much space.
It would be nice to hear from the Articulate Staff about fixing this issue. If they can't fix it, some guidance on whether or not we can safely delete these files for current projects would be helpful.
Hi Cathy,
Happy to help!
I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:
- Would you mind sharing how big was the Storyline temporary folder in your case, and how much total space you have in your computer so we can confirm if they are related?
- After deleting the contents of the temporary folder, how much space is freed up?
The files in the Storyline temp folder serve as a temporary backup of your project files. These files can be used to restore your project files to an earlier version in the event of file corruption, but can be safely deleted from your machine as long as you have properly saved your project files. If you aren't doing this yet, you'll want to make sure that you are working locally when making any changes to your project file to reduce the risk of file corruption.

I just cleaned my temp files and there was over 100gb while my total drive capacity is 250gb. Should there be some limit or have it auto-cleaned at some point? My system started crashing once it was down to 30mb free space.

Hello Seth!
The temp folder that holds temp files has no storage limit or auto-clean setting assigned to it. One workflow that I would recommend includes deleting your temp files after you've finished a course and backed it up somewhere.
