Storyline now supports non-English characters in survey fields?
Hi,
The documentation says non-English characters are replaced with underscores, and this is the behavior I was observing last time I checked (about 6 months ago).
I decided to test this again, but I am now seeing non-English characters are preserved. I created a course with a survey text-input field, published it to SCORM Cloud, and entered some non-English characters (Chinese, Japanese, Georgian, Thai, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic). Then exited and re-launched, and the non-English characters are re-loaded in the input field exactly as I entered them. I also looked at the debug log in SCORM Cloud and can see the non-English characters are preserved.
I cannot find any mention of this in the version history.
Can somebody confirm this change?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi DeveloperIgniti!
Thanks for reaching out!
In the current version of Storyline 360, I tested the experience you reported using a sample .story file translated to Japanese and published to SCORM Cloud. Upon exiting/resuming the course, the Japanese characters were retained on my end as well. I'd like our support engineers to take a closer look at this behavior, so I've opened a support case on your behalf.
You're in excellent hands working with them and they should be connecting with you via e-mail, shortly!

Thank you. I just want to clarify - I'm only referring to survey text input fields, not course translation.

Hi DeveloperIgniti,
Thanks for the clarification!
I see you've connected with my teammate, Darwin. I've updated your case with this information.
