OK, I have a workaround, as long as Articulate does not accidently make this unusable in a future update!
>Convert SVG to EMF
>Copy/paste or import EMF into SL
>Ungroup, remove rectangle artifact
>Voila! You can manipulate the image as individual "freeform" shapes, change color, reorder, etc.
