Tabs disappear after I delete a slide?

Hello,

I'm working on a project where it makes sense for me to copy and paste slides from one module to a different one frequently. The main reason is that I changed a lot of things on the layout for one of the modules and want to transfer that over to the other ones instead of redoing all of the slides, so I copy the slides from my "master" module and paste them on the module I'm working on. Then, when I delete the original slide from the module I'm working on, the tab open on the menu bar from my "master" module gets deleted as well. It's really frustrating to have to go back to Story View and find the next slide I need to copy over instead of being able to just click over to the next tab, especially with the number of slides I'm using.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Let me know if I'm not making sense - it's a weird problem to explain.

Thanks!

I appreciate the workaround that ChrisCole posted, but it's a PITA to have to switch to Story view, find the slide in that view, and delete the slide there just to avoid having my furthest-right tab close simply because I deleted a slide in the active (and unrelated) tab.

It takes exactly the same amount of time and headache as deleting the slide in slide view and then going into Story view to find the item that was on the tab that closed and reopen it.

This is a ridiculous bug that should have been solved by now.

Totally agree Rachelle. It is frustrating.

LeslieMcKerchie  Looking back over this old thread, I am seeing your screen recording from 4 years ago for the first time. Your recording doesn't quite capture the flow that causes the frustration. Or, at least, it doesn't reflect my particular experience.

If I have a module that has 5 sections, I like to open one slide from each section so that I now have 5 tabs across the top. That way I can move quickly from section to section by clicking the relevant tab. Then within a section, I use the vertical slide panel at the left to move from slide to slide.

Here's the problem...  If I delete any slide in a section, one of the tabs at the top closes. So if I have my tidy little horizontal bar with tabs for my 5 sections for quick movement between sections, one of the tabs gets involuntarily closed and now I have only 4 tabs open and my quick navigation between sections scheme is no longer quick. I have to rebuild that 5 tab structure again so that I can bounce around between sections.

The recording below demonstrates what I'm talking about. I THINK this is what many (most) users have been complaining about.

I notice that near the end I meant to change one of the tabs to Section 3 but accidentally left it open to section 4. That was operator error, not a Storyline issue.
