Text outline
Ok, this may be the stupidest question I've yet asked, but is there no way to put an outline around text? I'm going nuts trying to figure out if there is. My text is getting absolutely lost on the top of this picture.

I'm not in front of SL so can't recall if you can alter the outline on any given piece of text?
How about using PowerPoint to format your text and then import as an image?
Or use GIMP (or another image editor) to create an outline effect?

I was trying to outline text as well and couldn't. What worked for me was including a shadow on my text. It makes it stand out from the background that an outline is no longer necessary

You might also try making your text white and putting it in a box filled with black at 50% (or so) transparency. The picture will still show through but the black box adds the necessary contrast to make the text legible.

It's frustrating that 7 years on, it doesn't appear that this feature is live yet? :-/
It seems simple enough, I just want to apply an outline to my text...
Hi Lynsey!
There are different ways to outline text by using any of the formatting features like highlighting or underlining. There is also an option to format the text box and edit the style to ensure it stands out to your users.
If this is different than what you're looking for, would you mind sharing a screenshot of what you mean by "outline to the text"?
Here's a quick look:

You cannot add an outline to the text at the moment

Hi Ashley
I am trying to do the same. I recommend using custom fonts. Arialic Hollow (from Urban Fonts) might be similar to your example. See Digital Trends article for how to.

Best fix I've found is to do it in PowerPoint and then copy/paste it into Storyline.

Still no option to do this? After 10 years?
