Trigger off of the Middle Mouse Button/Wheel

Any progress on this yet? It has been seven years! It is a bit odd that there is a left, right and double-click trigger but no wheel trigger(s). Perhaps there are sticky wickets involved that we mortals don't realize. If so, can someone pull back the veil a bit for us?
