Be aware that dials and sliders are keyboard accessible. Even if you block them from being clicked on by overlaying them with a transparent shape, the user can still press the TAB key on their keyboard to navigate to the dial/slider and then use the arrow keys on the keyboard to control them.
If you don't want the dial/slider keyboard accessible, use the Focus Order feature to remove them from the list of accessible objects on the slide; that way, the user can't interact with them using the keyboard.
