Unable to unselect some options in pick many quiz

Hi People

Have built a pick many quiz which is puzzling me in that I can unselect some of the pick many but not others. I have looked at all the properties and states but not seem to be different. I based my quiz on the Focus freeform pick many shown below in which only some of the selections can be changed. What am I missing?

  • If you will attach your .story file here, it will make it easier for someone to help you.

  • Thanks Walt. I've discovered the fault originates in the Focus template so you can check the issue out using the template. My project has some sensitive info on it so unwilling to share at this time.

  • Hi Andrew!

I understand privacy is very important for your project. I'd like to suggest another option:

If you'd like to share your .story file in a private support case, our Support Engineers can investigate what’s happening with your quiz setup. Your file will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete. Our team can also sign an NDA if necessary.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi People,

I have identified that if I duplicate a question in the Focus multiple response template, the on/off properties of the selector lose the ability to turn back off once turned on. Would have expected they be set in the states section but not so.

    Thoughts?

  • DevinOToole : The problem is that you only have 1 option listed as a choice in Form View:

That 1 option is the only one recognized as a possible answer to the question. If it's not Selected when the user clicks Submit, the program will show the "Invalid Answer" warning.

The other buttons will toggle between their Selected and Normal states as the user clicks them. But the selection of one doesn't impact the other buttons.

The solution: In Form View, you need to indicate every object that is a possible response.

When you do that, Storyline automatically puts those objects into a Button Set, so only one can be Selected at a time.

You're welcome! And perhaps my reply will help someone else in the future.

Pay it forward when you can. 😊
