variable references

I created a text variable for a project I am working on and when I went to rename it I discovered variables with references to what appears to be another file completely. I've attached a screen shot and wonder if someone can help by telling me what I'm looking at. The file I'm working on is not a template file. It is a .story file???

    If you import a slide from SL, the import includes all the master layouts and all the variables of the original project. These look like they came with a template file.
