Needed webP to change an animated screen capture of a SVG (full color). Gif only supported a 256 palette so the shading looked terrible. So I screen captured the animation using ScreenToGif and saved it as webP animation file. Came in ten times smaller then a GIF and looked excellent. I guess I wasted my time.

You could convert an animation to video, but this is a horrible waste of size/bandwidth if you don't really need video.
I built a tool to convert any PNG/JPG/GIF images in a Storyline file to WEBP and make the necessary changes in the file. Take a look and see what you think. My clients have been really happy with the results. It's lowered their carbon footprint and made their training faster to load.https://lowcarbonweb.com/storyline
