Why are my hint, correct, and incorrect layers not showing?
I haven't used Storyline in a while but when I just tried to create something, I couldn't seem to find where to add the hint layer, incorrect layer, and correct layer. I pasted them from a Storyline I created in June '23 and I customized them to these slides, but they don't show up when I publish. How do I get those layers with the current Storyline? (I'm not using the Beta, and it says I'm up-to-date with updates.)

In Storyline, the default for quiz slides is to provide immediate feedback. Thus, when you insert a Graded Question slide, it has a Correct layer and an Incorrect layer.
The default is set to allow just one attempt before showing one of those layers. However, if you increase the Attempts, Storyline will automatically add a Try Again layer. And it will show that layer if the user answers incorrectly before they reach the maximum number of allowed attempts.
The Feedback and Attempts settings are in the QUESTION TOOLS>DESIGN ribbon.
Note: You can edit the content on the feedback layers. However, you should not rename them, because Storyline's built-in functionality relies on the default names.

Thank you for your response, Judy. I unfortunately don't see anything like what you've shared. I am in Try Mode, as I had done my previous simulations this way and those had the layers. Do I need to be in Quiz Mode and if so, is there a way to change to that?
This is meant to simulate a user completing documentation on an iPad. They need to click the Hotspot to progress to the next slide. The Hotspot works fine but I need to build in hints and Try Again with guidance for when users struggle to find the correct place to click (the Hotspot).

can you post the file?

I'm not sure I'm doing any of this correctly, but I've only actually done the first few slides (I think through 1.3 or 1.4). They show the layers when I'm working on it but I must be missing how to get them to actually apply as on the Hotspot seems to work.

Like Judy says, if you are using a built-in quiz slide, whether you are in Form View or Slide View, the QUESTION TOOLS > DESIGN tab will be visible.
If you are using a custom built quiz slide, do what Phil says.

I am very confused. Nothing I see matches what either Judy shared or Phil shared. I am not making a quiz, I am in Try Mode. That was how I did my previous simulations so I chose that for this as well. I am not sure if the earlier attachments work so I'll try here.

Ah, that helps. Use the “clicks outside hotspot” option to show the Hint layer. Build some reason to click on that layer, and have that show the Try Again Layer. Personally, I probably would combine Hint and Try Again.
