XLIFF Formatting Issues After Translation
Is anyone else experiencing major formatting issues after importing translated XLIFFs?
We're exporting our XLIFFs (Include HTML formatting selected) and then translating them with AWS Translate.
Some of the issues we're experiencing when translating our courses:
- Extra Carriage Returns: This is mainly happening at the end of sentences before punctuation, but does occasionally happen in other areas of the course.
- Font Size Changes: The font size occasionally changes throughout the course file. In the example attached, the highlighted text is all supposed to be bold, 32pt font, and on a single line. However, it's added some carriage returns, changed the font size and unbolded parts.
- Text-based bulleted lists and numbered lists: In the example shown, the 2nd numbered list items was turned into a bulleted list.
- Tables: These are just being butchered beyond correction. We just have to manually recreate and retranslate them cell by cell.
- Bolding Issues: In the example shown, only the highlighted text is supposed to be bolded. It bolded other text.
- Hyperlinks: Occasionally, it applies the hyperlink to text that shouldn't be included, and removes any link color formatting.
We started translating courses about 2 years ago and always had some level of clean-up, but it feels like it's gotten worse in the last year or so.
These are just a handful of the types of issues we're seeing, and they can create hours of work cleaning the files up after translating.

Hi PatCummins!
I'm sorry to hear you're facing so many formatting issues, when using XLIFF files to translate Rise 360 content!
We'd love to take a closer look at your course, as well as the XLIFF material you've been working with. I've opened a support case on your behalf, and sent you an e-mail with steps on how you can share those items privately with our team.
You're in great hands troubleshooting with our support engineers, and we can continue the conversation through your case.
