Feature Request: Better Visual Distinction Between Flashcard Front and Back

Hi Frontline Design Team!

Would it be possible to introduce a subtle visual contrast between the Front and Back sections when editing flashcards?

While creating training materials, I've noticed that the current layout makes both sections look very similar. I occasionally find myself editing the wrong side or accidentally skipping a section, particularly when uploading images or adding AI-generated audio captions.

Perhaps a light background color difference, subtle borders, or more prominent Front/Back headers could help distinguish the two sections without changing the overall design.

I think this small UI improvement could make the editing experience more intuitive, especially for those creating multiple flashcards with mixed media.

Just a suggestion! I'd love to hear if this is something the team might consider for a future update. Thanks for all your work!

  • Hi leothelyon,

Welcome to the community, and thank you for sharing this along with a screenshot. I understand what you’re running into here. When the Front and Back sections look so similar, it’s easy to edit the wrong side or skip a section, especially when you’re adding images and AI-generated audio across several cards.

At the moment, the Front and Back sections in the flashcard editor use the same layout, so there isn’t a way to change how they’re set apart, and I don’t have a timeline to share.

It sounds like you’d like to know at a glance which side you’re editing, so you can move through a set of cards with confidence. Which part of building a card makes it easiest to lose track of which side you’re on?

    Hi Eric!

It's primarily when I have multiple cards with information already added and needing to modify as I scroll up and down, using hotkeys to copy + paste, accidentally pasting the wrong field box as I go.

Visually, a separation between cards is the hardest to distinguish.

      Hi leothelyon,

Thanks for walking me through that. Scrolling up and down through cards that already have content while copying and pasting with hotkeys makes it easy to land in the wrong field, and I can see why a clearer separation between each card would matter even more than the Front and Back labels.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain how you work.
