Creating a Course Teaser with Nova AI Avatars

I tried Nova’s AI Avatar feature to create a teaser for one of our courses, and I was really impressed with the result!

I wanted the teaser to feel like it was coming from someone in our community rather than a traditional course narrator. I used a photo of a community member who had participated in one of our events, created a short script, and described the exact setting I wanted—a library with books and shelves in the background, but no other people.

Nova created a 40-second video, and I was amazed by how natural it looked. The avatar had hand gestures, natural body movement, and lip-sync that flowed really well with the narration. What surprised me most was how little additional editing was needed.

Because I used the image of a community member for this experiment, I’m not able to share the actual teaser or screenshots here, but I wanted to share the workflow and my experience with the feature.

This experiment also opened up a new possibility for us. I’m now thinking about creating a short teaser for each of our main learning programs—the “umbrella” courses in our LMS that bring together several related courses. These teasers could give learners a quick preview of what the overall program offers, spark their interest, and inspire them to start exploring the courses sooner rather than later.

One thing I learned from this experiment is that if I know exactly what I want the teaser to look like and the purpose I want it to serve, I should put those details directly into the prompt. The more specific I am upfront, the less time I need to spend editing or constantly tweaking the video afterward.

I can definitely see myself using this feature a lot in the future. Great feature—love it!
