I was inspired to do this demo after experiencing an earthquake in Palm Springs this week--a 5.1 next door in Indio, and then a couple of smaller aftershocks. We're pretty prepared for earthquakes since we live on the San Andreas fault, but they come with no warning and you're never really sure if it will pass in a couple seconds, or be "the big one".
I created an animated Vyond video to draw interest in the the earthquake preparedness topic, and then used the video to lead into the course topics. Trigger warning--this demo portrays cigarette smoking. :)
The new AI closed caption feature in Storyline is amazing! I used to dread doing closed captions, but the new AI feature creates the captions in 10-20 seconds. I only had to edit a couple words.

How funny! JodiSansone And well done. You have a director's eye for choosing the right shots at the right moment: wide, medium, close-up, etc. I had already noticed this in one of your previous videos.
I was really worried about... the bottles in the wine cellar. Fortunately, they survived.

I love this!! Midcentury modern is my favorite aesthetic, and it matches this theme perfectly. The interaction complements the scenario well too.
Thank you for reviewing it. People take Mid Century very seriously here in Palm Springs! I was thinking of it because I have two neighbors who are very into Modernism Week, which is coming up here on February 12th. I wasn't a fan at first, but the style is growing on me, and when you see it well done in the desert, it is very striking.
My team LOVED this scenario! Very entertaining! We were wondering- how did you get the audio on each option to pause when selecting a different option? We are struggling with overlapping audios for a similar set up.
I'm glad you liked it. For the options slide I put three little vignette videos on the base slide with a veil, and then added the audio responses to 3 layers--with only audio on them. The layers only play one at a time so they don't overlap. The music is in the background and is supposed to fade a little when the timeline audio plays. I attached the file here if you want to tear it apart. I remember the first time I saw someone handle the audio this way--it was Tom Kuhlman in a Quick Tips session.

Hey Jodi! Love this! Wow, you always innovate and have that instructional design expertise/panache. I loved the use of the animated mp4 (Vyond), choice of music, and, of course, the purpose - making the scenario meaningful and fun.
Also your ADA compliance font and background contrast. 🤩

Has Vyond been easier to work with than the other animation creator s/w you've used in the past?Sorry I didn't see your question until today. I just reactivated my Vyond sub. I only use this or Camtasia so I'm not an expert on all the tools out their. I have fun with Vyond and do more traditional stuff with Camtasia. Mostly I just amuse myself. :)
