Accessibility should include voice recognition software

In recent years, both Rise and Storyline have had numerous accessibility improvements, but these have focussed mostly on screen reader and keyboard support. I work in the UK Public Sector and we have more colleagues that use voice recognition software than screen readers and magnifiers put together.

Voice recognition software is used by people who can't use a mouse and keyboard, or who find it difficult or painful to use them. There are many people with hand and arm impairments that this affects, including people with tremors, arthritis, cerebral palsy, and of course, amputees. Voice recognition software allows users to operate their device, and navigate and interact with content using just voice commands.

The majority of workplaces use Dragon Naturally Speaking (by Nuance) but there are also people who use Apple VoiceControl, Windows Voice Access, and Android Voice Access.

WCAG considers voice recognition software as a recognised assistive software, often referring to it in the guidance for specific success criteria. I think Articulate should also support the main voice recognition software. Not doing so excludes so many people.

Support for Dragon would make a huge difference! We are currently having to advise against the use of certain Rise and Storyline content because they are not accessible for our 2,000 Dragon users. For example, we cannot currently use the multiple choice questions in Rise, or flipcards, because they do not work with Dragon.
