AI Avatar video editing

Hi! First off let me say how much I have enjoyed creating videos using the AI Avatars. I've been able to download my own characters and backgrounds and make them come to life. It is truly amazing! I realize that this is in labs at the moment, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts in case you're interested in some feedback.

  1. When you create an avatar, text for the audio, and then create the video, sometimes the avatar is moving in a way you don't like, or their final expression at the end of the video is not pretty (eyes partially closed with a weird, strained look on their face). If you go back into the same video to edit it, it eats up more of your credits. It would be awesome if there was a video editing feature where you can edit a video you've created, fixing those unpleasant things you don't like, and then recreate the video without using your credits. You never know how the avatar is going to behave, so having the ability to fix little things to improve the video, without spending credits, would be amazing.
  2. On the note of a video editor, it would be cool if you could create different videos and put them together into one. There may be a way to do this already, but I cannot figure it out. LOL
  3. Another cool additional feature would be the ability to add background noise and/or music to a video. Storyline has this ability, so it seems it could be something that could also be done in Rise with the AI Avatars.

Thank you!

  • Hi MichelleKiefer, thank you for sharing this, and I love hearing how much you’re enjoying creating with AI Avatars. Your feedback is thoughtful and specific, which makes it really useful.

On fixing small things without spending credits, I can see why that would be a big help when you can’t predict how an avatar will move. Right now, any change to the script or character means the video has to be regenerated in full, so there isn’t a way to touch up just one moment. What does help is that voiceovers and character images don’t use credits, so refining those first and listening to the voiceover before you generate can save you some. Duplicating a block or editing without regenerating doesn’t use credits either, as covered in Creating AI Avatars.

For combining videos and adding background music, I’m not aware of a way to do either directly within Rise today. One option is to download your finished video from the block and combine clips or add music in a video editor or in Storyline. Is your finished video going into a Rise course, or do you need it as a standalone file? That would help us point you to the closest option.

Your comparison to Storyline’s audio options is a fair one, and wanting to polish an avatar video into a finished piece is a reasonable ask that we’re continuing to track.
