Change Variable Names in Trigger Panel

Currently in Storyline 360, I can click Manage Project Variables and change the variable name (or create a new variable that I can switch it to), or I can click the variable name within the trigger and choose New Variable. Switching the default variable to a new variable with a custom name then causes the default variable to just live as an empty variable, which takes up space in my list and makes it harder to find what I need. Changing the name in the Manage Project Variables window involves opening the window and then finding the variable. It doesn't take a really long time, but it certainly slows me down.

We should be able to change the variable name from the trigger panel. Maybe have a new choice at the top of the dropdown near New Variable. Clicking on Change Variable Name changes the variable name in the trigger to an editable box so I can type the new name there.

  • Hello ReneeJerden,

Thanks for sharing this idea! I can see how being able to rename variables directly in the Trigger panel would make managing and organizing them much faster, especially when you’re working with several variables at once.

I’ve shared your suggestion with our product team as a feature request so they can consider adding this workflow improvement in a future update. We really appreciate you taking the time to describe how it would help streamline your process.
