Click-to-explain words

It would be great to have the option to highlight a word in a text so that, when clicked on, a small window pops up with a description or definition. Content creators could use this feature to add interactive glossaries to words or concepts that require further explanation. It would be an interactive glossary within the text, providing explanations for terms.

Maybe someone has an idea of how to implement this in Rise. If not, I hope this feature becomes available in the near future.

Thank you very much

Regards

Priscilla

  • Hi Pri_lc,

That’s a great idea, and I can see how that would make content much more interactive and easier to navigate.

At the moment, Rise doesn’t support clickable words within a text block that open a pop-up or definition. Interactions like that would require a different type of block rather than inline text behavior.

As a workaround, you might consider using blocks like labeled graphics, accordions, or flashcards to present definitions or additional context without overwhelming the main content. Some authors also create a dedicated glossary lesson and link to it from key sections.

That said, your idea of having an inline, click-to-explain experience would be a really smooth way to support learning without interrupting the flow.

I’ve shared your feedback with our product team so they can consider this use case as we continue to gather input around interactivity in Rise.
