Estimated Course Duration Calculator for Rise 360

Suggestion:
It would be extremely useful if Rise 360 could provide an estimated learner completion time for a course. Many LMS platforms require a course duration when SCORM packages are uploaded, but currently the only reliable way to obtain this information is to complete the course manually and time it.

A built-in duration calculator could estimate completion time based on factors such as:

  • Word count and reading time
  • Interactions and knowledge checks
  • Scenario blocks
  • Embedded videos (using actual video durations)
  • Quiz questions and question banks
  • Customisable reading speed assumptions

The estimate could be displayed in the course settings and optionally shown to learners before they enrol, helping set expectations about the time commitment required.

Benefits would include:

  • Easier LMS administration
  • More accurate training records
  • Better learner expectations before starting a course
  • Reduced need for manual testing and timing of courses

Even an approximate estimate would save course authors significant time and improve the publishing workflow.

Use case: My LMS requires a course duration for every uploaded course. For larger Rise courses, determining this can be very time-consuming because the entire course must be completed and timed manually before a realistic duration can be provided.

Thank you 😃

This would be a really practical addition to Rise 360. Manually completing a longer course just to determine its approximate duration can take a lot of time, especially when there are videos, interactions, and quizzes involved. Even if the estimate wasn’t perfectly precise, having a calculation based on those different content types would give course authors a much better starting point for LMS requirements.
