Hello from Sacramento. Glad to be here.
Hi everyone, I’m John Bauer. I’m a Senior E-Learning and Content Specialist at Lionel University, where I build learning experiences for fitness and wellness professionals.
I have spent more than 25 years in the fitness industry as a trainer, educator, content developer, and podcast host. That background has made me especially interested in the practical side of learning: taking information that can be complex, technical, or overwhelming and turning it into something people can understand, use, and remember. AKA - Relevant and Practical
I have been working more intentionally to grow my instructional design skills and become more involved in the larger L&D community. Attending Articuland recently made that goal feel much more real, and it also made me want to stop lurking and introduce myself here.
I’m looking forward to learning from the people in this community, sharing what I can from my own corner of the learning world, and continuing to grow into a stronger contributor and leader in this space. Glad to be here.

Hi JBauer
I love that Articuland brought you here, welcome! 🤩 Your background is so interesting, and I bet you have some great insights to share.
I'd love to hear about your biggest takeaway from your time at Articuland.
I'm not sure how much you've explored in the community, but if you are looking for a place to dive in, the weekly challenges are a great low-stakes way to start sharing work. We've also got a little bonus challenge running focused on trying out new Nova capabilities that you might want to check out.
Looking forward to hearing more from you!

JBauer, welcome (officially) to the ELH community.
As a fitness instructor and educator, I can imagine the complexity involved in taking an in-person fitness learning session and turning that into an engaging asynchronous learning intervention.
With the rise of ai content everywhere, I think in-person training of all kinds will see a resurgence and boom. We humans will be even more starved for human-to-human learning sessions.

Agreed! I'm in the middle of teaching more live workshops now.
With that said online education is not going anywhere and I am motivated to continue to find new and innovative ways to create online content that does more than share information but also helps to impart capability.
