Question about list data type

Hi,

My name is Erica, working in Grenoble, France. I am a professor in instructional technology for almost 30 years. I have worked with multiple authoring tools, and I am currently learning Articulate Storyline 360 in order to use it in my teaching in the future.

My main problem is to get used to working with triggers instead of with scripts. I am curious to know why there are only three data types ? Why not a list structure ? Or else, is there a simple way to read a table or txt file with a list? I have been trying to use triggers that adjust variables with several conditions, but I can't seem to get it right.

Erica

  • Hi Erica and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

As you mentioned, Storyline doesn’t natively support list and array data structures or direct reading of files like .txt or .csv. But you can model logic by combining those basic variable types with multiple triggers and conditions.

Storyline also has an execute JavaScript trigger. It sounds like you're comfortable with coding so this might be your closest option to making things happen the way you're used to.

If you'd like to start a new post with a specific variable request, I'm confident the user community can take a look at your file to provide the best approach.
