Need to create a map of the United States? Save yourself some time and use this interactive map template. This template uses states and layers to display a fun fact about each of the 50 states. Download the fonts (Big Noodle Titling and Congratulations Folding) to get the exact look-and-feel!

Very nice! As a former history/geography teacher (and later K-12 curriculum developer), I would have loved to have had this 10 years ago! BTW - The hover states are a little "wiggy" when viewed in IE 11 - but they're fine in Chrome.

Hi Nicole, I want to do this same thing but with the shape of an animal. How do I manipulate my drawing to light up when the user hover overs it?

Just a quick check- WV became a state in 1863, not 1861. Otherwise, nicely done!

Love the design and presentation. Your presentations are always on point! I would love to have seen demographics in terms of ethnic groups (i.e. Native American, Hispanics, Blacks, Whites etc) AND specific years (i.e. 1919, 1819, 1719, 1619) BUT that would have required a lot more research! Still love this presentation. Two thumbs up!!

There is an easy way to do this rather than using multiple layers. Just add the call-out box in the hover state of each item and there you go, the same output with just a base layer!

Hi Haydee! I believe Nicole got the map with all the freeform shapes by inserting an icon from Content Library 360. If you go to the Insert tab, click Icons, and then type “United States” in the search bar, you can find a similar map with all the freeform shapes grouped together.
