Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a collection of standards and specifications used for e-learning. It defines communications between the published content created in the authoring software and the hosting environment, which is most commonly an LMS (Learning Management System).
Versions
- SCORM 1.1: The first version; had some important limitations
- SCORM 1.2: This was the first version to be widely used; it still in use and is supported by most Learning Management Systems.
- SCORM 2004: The current version; is supported by most Learning Management Systems.
- xAPI: The most recent e-learning software specification. Version 1.0 of xAPI was released in 2013 and is currently supported by some Learning Management Systems.
