On Click Animations Help!

Apr 09, 2012

Hi,

I have just started using Articulate, and have opened up a PowerPoint file that I have previously created my own interactive activities using the animations tool. However, even though I have synced all my animations, when I press preview, none of my On Click animations work.

Also, the videos that I have embedded in my presentation are set to play 'With Previous' i.e. when the slide opens, but these do not play in preview mode.

Also, the hyperlinks that I had in place, i.e. on my contents page, do not work either. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tessa and welcome to Heroes! I would make sure you are using supported animations as not all PowerPoint animations and effects are supported. The only videos that are supported in Presenter would be FLV, SWF or MP4 movies imported via Articulate -> Flash Movie. I would also make sure if you are using SWF or FLV files that they adhere to these best practices. Regarding your hyperlinks, make sure that they are supported hyperlinks and that you are testing in the environment you are publishing for. Hyperlinks don't really work in Preview so if you are going to be hosting the content online or in an LMS or Articulate Online, make sure you publsh for one of those options and view the content in that environment. If you want to test content locally, I recommend doing the steps below:

Thanks. I am still having difficulty with the 'On Click' annotations. The annotations were supported, I was using 'Split', but they still do not seem to work despite syncing them. Any suugestions?

The videos I have used are mpeg, do you know of free converting software that I could use to convert it into any of the formats mentioned above?

Thanks

Hi,

I am very new to this sort of thing so I'm not exactly sure what a case number is. How do I find this? And I am testing out Articulate with the free trial so I do have the Video Encoder.

Also, which tutorials do you suggest to get more to grips with Articulate? I have got to grips with the basics but I would like to start to begin learning how to do some of the more complex things with it.

Thanks,

Tessa

Hello Tessa, from what you describe, I think you'll have to use the "Click on the image..." as a hyperlink to a new PPT screen.

If you have for example, four images you'd like to be able to click on the learn more, then you'd need a separate screen for each of those. I don't know how you intend to show the additional information, but you can use a "start with previous" animation on the new screen to display text, etc.

Two other things... you can hide the "destination" screens so they don't appear in the navigation panel after you publish. You'll also need to branch back to the original screen from the "more information" screen. Both of these are done within "Slide Properties" in the Articulate ribbon.

I hope that helps!

Hi Tessa.

I would take a look at both the building better courses tutorials as well as the Articulate focused tutorials here. That will really help you feel more comfortable with creating your content and using our software.
