I set a recent course player to "lock" to force 100% viewing. Between the course content and quiz, I set the navigation to "USER" with the NEXT button. However, the NEXT button command does not work. The course is stuck at the end of the content (embedded video MP4) slide. When I try to advance, the LOCK IMAGE appears.
How do I advance the the "next slide?
Does LOCK player setting prevent ALL user advance controls? Do I need to change the entire course to AUTO advance?
I think the Restricted option, instead of Locked might actually be a better choice for you. This would ensure that learners view the content before they move on. It would also allow them to go back, but only to content they've already seen/finished.
When course navigation is Restricted in Articulate Presenter '13, learners won't be able to advance past an embedded interaction until it's complete. An interaction is considered complete when learners reach the last step of the interaction.
Free: This lets learners click slide titles in the menu to navigate to any part of the course at any time. They can view slides in any order.
Locked: This means learners can only view slides in the order you've designed. They can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides, nor can they use it to go back to any previously viewed slides.
Let me know if you have any other trouble with this, or any questions.
Ok thanks. I did not know that was there. Since FREE and LOCKED are accessed off of slide properties, it seems awfully stranged for RESTRICTED to be accessed somewhere else.
No worries, you could also customize the menu for your course, by clicking the Edit Menu button in the lower left corner of the Slide Properties window. The Player Properties window will open to the Menu editor as Leslie mentioned.
I have locked the navigation and published it for LMS. However when I am testing it in the LMS I can't move past the first slide. I have the little lock Icon but I can't move on. Why?

player settings-> menu options= restricted. & slide properties -> navigation= free or locked (i have tried both)
But it still allows you to skip content and move ahead. What setting/how) do i disable the ability to move ahead but have the option to go back to slides already watched?
Unfortunately, no that doesn't provide much help because I have it set at restricted already. Under slide properties, if I want to be able to move backward but not forward without watching material, what should the navigation be set at? free or locked? Is there anywhere else for these types of settings?
Hi, Karen -- Thanks for your reply, and if you already have your Player settings for menu options set as RESTRICTED, and neither FREE or LOCKED for your Navigation in Slide Properties is allowing you to freely revisit slide that have already been viewed, we may need to take a closer look at your file to determine the root of the issue. Please use the steps here to create an Articulate Package, and then send it along to our Support Engineers here for additional investigation.
If you want users to just be able to move backwards, choose restricted in the menu navigation and then leave the slide settings as "Free". If you set any slides to locked, it means learners can't advance by clicking the player controls or the slide titles in the menu. To navigate away from a locked slide, you'll need to provide one or more hyperlinks that jump to other slides in the course, or set the Advance property to Automatically. You can read more about this here.
Thank you both! I went back to try to redo and now all of a sudden it seems to be working thanks so much for your help. Ashley the settings you suggested are what worked! Thank you!
Happy to hear that Karen - if you're trying to use both the player and slide settings, the slide settings will override what you set up in the player - so narrowing it down to just using one is what you'll want to do!
I have the same problem as the original post where the lock option stops the navigation forward. I see the Restricted feature mentions here, but my version does not have that feature. I am using Presenter 360 V8
Thanks for contacting us to share that you are experiencing a navigation restriction in your project as well.
In Presenter 360, you have a couple of options for navigation restrictions. Without seeing your project, I'm not sure which one is the culprit for you, but I'll link to both so that you can dig in.
If you decide that you'd rather me take a look, then with your permission, please share your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

I do not see a "restricted' option in Presenter 13, only free and locked.
Hi Brent!
Check out the Player Settings > Menu Options as explained here and shown below:
Hi Brent,
Are you looking with the player as shown in this tutorial? You'll also want to make sure you're on the latest update of Presenter '13 which is update 5.

Hi Orla!
Sounds like your navigation is locked.
You can read more about that in this tutorial.
You would need to wait until your slide timeline completes to move forward.
If this does not assist, feel free to share your Articulate Package with us to take a look.
So right now my settings are:

Hi, Karen -- Thanks so much for your question! May I ask if the suggestions offered over here might be helpful for what you have in mind?
