Only complete if passed or both quiz attempts are taken

Hi there!

I have my quizzes set up as Pass/Fail and give staff 2 attempts to pass the quiz. I've run into situations where staff will use one attempt, fail that attempt and then exit out of the quiz before taking the second attempt. It "Completes" that lesson in the LMS even though they didn't take the second quiz attempt and it's nearly impossible for them to go back into the course once the LMS completes the course.

I'd like to know if there is a way to set up the quiz to only send a complete status to the LMS if the user either passes or uses both quiz attempts?

Thanks!

  • Hi Ashley,

Yes, this absolutely can be done in Storyline 360!

There are a few approaches that you can take to control the completion of your course. Here are some of the options:

    1. In the publishing settings of your course, only check the option to mark your course as complete when your learner completes a quiz.

    2. You can use a combination of variables and trigger conditions to mark your course as complete when a learner has attempted your course twice. Basically, you'll want to track the number of attempts your learner has taken, and then trigger a course completion trigger once the conditions have been met.

Here's another article that you can check out to help you decide on which publishing settings to choose:
