A bug in my drop down menu?

Hi! I'm making my first course and I've made my own drop down menu in Slide Master. It's pretty basic with a button on the base layer that opens a new/second layer with the menu (and triggers to get to the slides) and a button to close (back) to the base layer.

Everything works great - it takes me where I want to go and the drop down menu is closed (showing Slide Master base layer) when I get to the slide I clicked on. BUT! If I try to go back to two of the slides using the drop down menu again (I've already visited them using the menu) the slide shows the second layer from the Slide Master, aka the drop down menu is open. The other 7 slides are not affected by this.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much for reaching out. So exciting that you’re creating your first Storyline 360 Course!

I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the menu functionality within your project when revisiting slides. I know that can be very frustrating!

Have you double-checked the Slide Properties of your course?

  • You can do this by clicking on the little wheel in the bottom right corner of the window.

 

  • From there, I’d recommend checking the details for the affected slides When revisiting. You will want to be sure that you have selected Reset to initial state in that dropdown.

Additionally, have you tried double-checking the Menu properties within the Player Properties window?

Here’s how you can open up the player properties window:
1. Go to the Home Tab in the top left corner of the screen.

2. Select the Player button on the far right of the Home Ribbon.

3. From there, go to the Data section along the top ribbon and select Menu.

4.Then, navigate down to the gear icon to open the Menu Options window.

Under the Appearance section, please double check if you have Auto-collapse menu as the learner progresses currently selected.
