Capturing Course Attempts in LMS
Sep 16, 2019
Hi all,
I recently reached out to the support team for my LMS (Saba) to find out if we can capture learner course attempts in their reports. Specifically, we're looking to accurately capture the number of times a user has re-tried a quiz within a course, and the score for each attempt.
After some digging, we found that the scores for each attempt do seem to be captured, but not coming through on the reporting. This was Saba support's response:
"I have reviewed the mentioned content and found that the content sends a "cmi.core.exit = suspend" command to Saba at the end.
Upon completion, the content needs to send "cmi.core.exit = null" though, otherwise the attempt remains open/active (in addition it can cause other roll-up/completion issues).
Due to the above, suggesting to update your content to make sure no suspend command for cmi.core.exit is being sent (at the end of the content)."
So my question is, how can we as IDs configure our Storyline courses so that the content sends "cmi.core.exit = null" properly to the LMS?
It would be helpful to know this for Rise courses as well.
Thanks,
Anne

Hi there Anne!
I think this discussion might be just what you're looking for!
This seems to be a known issue with Saba, but luckily, lots of workarounds discussed in the community!
Please share any advice you have to help others using Saba!
anybody tried this with Safari? A client said it's working with Chrome but not with Safari. the cmi.core.exit still has the value of Suspend upon exit.
