My eLearning courses won't load up on iPad anymore. Can anyone have a look at this example as it is one of many courses we created that have been working fine on tablets up until a weeks or so ago...now we can't get them to open up iPads at all.
Any advise you can give as to why the html5 part has stopped working would be appreciated...it has worked fine for months.
There were issues causes by Apple's IOS 9 update which changed the way apps launch in iOS 9. As a result, your Articulate Storyline 2 content may not launch in the Articulate Mobile Player as you'd expect.
Have a look at the support page regarding this topic here.
I still can't seem to get them to work, I am using IOS9 (I presume my clients are too). However I have installed the latest version of Storyline and it still has the same problem.
Could you look a the storyline file and output file attached?
Sorry you are still having trouble with your course. I know you mentioned you installed the latest version of Storyline. Did you also run the updater or republish your courses?
That said, I was able to open and run your course on my iPad all the way through slide 13 using the story_html5.html file. The only issue I noticed was that the play button was missing from the videos, but clicking on the video itself initiated the video to play just fine.
Let me know your reproduction steps if they are different from mine.
I have run the updater and it still doesn't work. I also have the same issue with play button missing on html5 (never did before) but my screen just freezes and doesn't let me move on when I click on the video itself.
Apparently it is not working on Android tablets either...
I'm really sorry you are having all of these troubles, Mark. I know how frustrating it can be.
A few thoughts... Are you running this through your LMS, and could it possibly be an issue there?
I'll work on testing the Android version today. In regards to your IOS issues, many factors are at play when running your course on iPads. Have a read of this article on HTML5 Content in Mobile Safari. The recommendation section might be helpful to you.
I'll let you know if I uncover anything on the Android output.
Hi, I have tried to open the courses via SCORM Cloud on my ipad and that doesn't work either. I am really lost here. All the courses were working fine a week ago but none of them work now.
I have updated my storyline to the latest version and run the updater but it doesn't seem to make a difference on IOS9. Is there anyone who can test it on an earlier vesrion of IOS to see if it works OK?
I have an iPad Air but I know it is not working on an iPad PRO either. I have had a colleague look intoit and they have advised that in Articulate we have both a Flash version (for desktop) and non Flash (for IOS).
In the old iOS, the non Flash would play. But in the new iOS the SCO is not detecting the OS correctly and is trying to present the Flash version.
He seems to think it is strictly an iOS and Articulate issue. Not other devices.
I hope that helps...I am desperate to get it fixed...it just feels like I am the only person having the issue which can't be true as IOS9 has been out a while I believe.
It looks like you've gone through a far bit of testing here - and it's certainly odd that it just stopped working and that Bret was able to upload to a web server and it worked normally - so there is a bit more going on here.
I would like to have you work directly with our Support engineers and couldn't track down your email address based on name alone - can you reach out to them here and upload your files or let me know your email address and I'll send it along?
Thanks for reaching out here. I took a look at Marks case, and it seems that he was publishing for SCORM 1.2 or 2004 and trying to use within the Articulate Mobile player. With that set up, it may not launch as the Mobile Player is set up to work with Tin Can API as detailed here. Also it was recommended to run the Articulate Updater to ensure it would work with the iOS9 (latest iOS is 10).
If you're still having difficulty, you may want to reach out to our Support team here.
I have a related question. The Storyline 2 published file will run through the Litmos LMS login on my iPhone 4S with no issues... but will not play on the an iPad.
Hi there, Joseph. The first thing that comes to mind would be your publishing options: Did you include the Articulate Mobile Player option when publishing your course? Tracking content in the Articulate Mobile Player is only supported in learning management systems that support the Tin Can API specification. If tracking and reporting is crucial to you but your LMS doesn't support Tin Can API, don't mark this option. Here's some additional information about publishing for mobile devices.
The Articulate Mobile Player app is not supported for iPhones, which could explain why the course played fine on your phone. It would be using your Safari browser rather than the app. I would recommend publishing with the HTML5 option checked, and with the Articulate Mobile Player option UNchecked and see if you can launch the new version on your iPad from the LMS.
What happens when you try to get it on the iPad? Do you see it try to launch in the Mobile player app vs. the Safari Browser and running the HTML5 output. My guess is that you've published to include the HTML5 and the mobile player - the latter of which won't work if your LMS doesn't support Tin Can API as that'll be required to pass the log in credentials from the mobile app to the LMS. You'll also want to make sure that as above you're on the latest update of Storyline 2 which is update 11.
We currently publish for LMS with HTML5 without the Articulate player or
download ability checked. This has worked up until the latest IOS update.
A customer just informed me of this problem yesterday. I have seen the
iPads will only now accept SCORM videos up to 15 MB. Most of ours exceed 35
MB. I have tried it on Safari, Chrome, and Firefox mobile apps.
I would appreciate your continued support in resolving this matter as I am
not that tech smart.

The normal SCORM video shows a LMS browser window with Launch button. Which
when pressed does nothing as far as I can tell. These is an LMS with HTML5
published file with no Articulate player or download checked. In the past
it has worked even on the iPads. I have seen that iPads will now only load
SCORM files up to 15 MB most of ours are +35.
If I now have to republish all projects that would not be pretty. But if
that is why it no longer works so be it.
First I wanted to let you know that responding via email includes your signature here so you're welcome to edit the post to remove that information.
Also, do you know what update of Storyline they were originally published with? It may not need to be a full republish - but you could look at using the latest update of Storyline 2 and then republish or run the Articulate Updater mentioned earlier in this discussion and that should resolve the issues with the latest iOS not allowing content to play correctly on the iPads.
You may also want to look at how it plays outside of your LMS to confirm it's not an issue with Litmos either - and you can test at SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for LMS testing. This article will walk you through how to go about the testing. If you'd like help on that one, we're happy to assist! To get started, you’ll want to upload the .story file here (which is the file prior to publishing) using the “ADD ATTACHMENT” button at the bottom of the forums reply window. We'll be able to publish it and upload to SCORM Cloud and test on our devices with varying iOS. If you’d prefer to not share in the public you’re always welcome to share with our Support Engineers here. They’re available 24/7 to assist! Let me know if you submit through a case and then I can follow along as our team takes a look!
hi, i have the same problem too, I published for scorm 2004 and check the html5, articulate mobile player as well as the offline option. I upload it in scorm cloud to test via ipad(iOS 10) and android but it gave me this error "articulate mobile player cannot access this content."
I have discovered if you check articulate mobile player that is the only
thing it will look for now. So if you don't have an Articulate mobile
Library account it won't have anything it can play. So uncheck articulate
mobile player and include HTML5 and it seems to work for me.

Hi Mark,
It may have to do with the iPad. Can you identify what generation of iPad you are using and provide that information to me?
Here's a link to help figure out which one you have.
