How do I delet multiple Master slide?
Oct 17, 2013
Hi Heroes,
Several of my team have been hard at work on a large project. We've all be working on separate parts of the project but just combined several story files into one big file.
Problem: I now have 11 sets of "Master Slides" and I can't delete most of them to get them down to a single master set. I already "un-preserved" and tried to delete, but no good.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Rants? Raves?
Makes me wish Storyline had a cloud collaboration feature, you know?
Thanks,
Rick

I ran into this problem on a smaller scale. While working with several near identical courses and copy / pasting between I'd end up with several Master slides.
The solution I used was to find the slides in each set that were being used (delete the rest) and then making them an obnoxious yellow (thus easy to identify).
I then went to my story view, and ensured the layout of each used only the 1 Master Slide set I wanted. Once all slides were using the same set, I was able to delete the remaining Master Slide sets.
Hi Rick
Master slides which are applied to even 1 file cannot deleted. Check each slide and re assign the required master file. Then mouse over each master file. You will know whether this master file is used for any slide. If it is not used, deleteit.

Thanks for your help folks! It took me a while to figure out how to "check" which slide was associated with which master. After that, it was just boring "right-click" work to change all 200 slides...
Thanks again for the help,
Rick
Rick, I agree it's rather clumsy. Would be nice if it had a merge feature that asked if you wanted to import masters when copy and pasting or importing from PPT. And wish it didn't create all the variations but I suppose some people like that.
Hi Rick! Looks like you had some fantastic help here. Thanks everyone!
Brett, if you have a great idea please feel free to share that in a feature request
