How to move to next slide after multiple layers

Hello,

I have been searching everywhere to an answer to this question. I am very new to using Storyline, so I think I'm missing something basic and that's why no one else has questions about it, haha!

I have a slide that has multiple layers, so it pushes the next slide into a new column and does not connect the two. Meaning that when I click 'Next' in a preview it just doesn't go anywhere.

I tried making a trigger on the last layer telling it to go to the next slide when the user clicks next, however it will only save on the first layer meaning that when when I user clicks next it skips over ALL the layers and goes right to the next slide.

Like I said...I feel like there is something VERY simple I am missing here. Any help would be appreciated.
