Issues - overflowing text, scrolling, surface pro

Feb 03, 2020

Hello

I've hit a bit of a brick wall with my current project. My client uses a surface pro for their courses, however this causes an immense amount of problems when it comes to the scrolling panels. I've got 2 scrolling panels on slides, but when they use their tablets, both seem to scroll even if they're not selected. Not a desired expectation, and possibly just when one of the panels has been knocked accidentally. That said, I need to find a way to manage the content when it overflows.

They'd like the scroll to appear in the same way as a text input box when it overflows. I can't use motion paths due to the amount of content on the slides, it just wouldn't be smooth, and likely not work as expected. It's like needing a HTML page that auto-overflows with a scrollbar. I haven't tried using a scrollbar instead, but I imagine this would cause many of the same problems my client is experiencing.

Are there any other options I can use? I've explored the possibility of using JavaScript, but this isn't ideal, nor something I have enough experience of.

Thanks!

Hi Blue!

Our team is currently investigating this issue with scrolling panels not working correctly on Surface Pro tablets. Like you've mentioned, the scrolling continues even when it's not intentionally activated. We've found that touching the bottom and top arrows on the scrolling panel don't cause the scrolling to continue.

We are continuing to track customer comments so that we understand the gravity of the bug! Since you're subscribed to this discussion, you'll be notified when we report back with an update.

Hi Lauren,

Thanks for the update. That's great to hear it's been reported and investigated. However, at this point in time, telling my client to click the top/bottom arrows will not work. I need to find a feasible work around. Is there anything that can help here? I know it's daft as it works perfectly otherwise, but this is the only device they have access to. It's very frustrating.

Hi Blue,

Good news! We fixed the issue where the touch gesture was not working when dragging the scrolling panel on a Windows Surface Pro in HTML5.

Here's how to install the latest Storyline 360 update to see all the recent enhancements and fixes.
