paragraph spacing changed in files when opened on new machine

I recently just purchased a new machine - an HP Envy 15t and when I opened up a recent file there were a few elements that had shifted around. The main one that I noticed was that a rectangle I had used to highlight some text was no longer highlighting the correct portion. I'm not sure if the rectangle shifted or if something shifted in regards to the text spacing. I checked my system and my resolution is set at 1366x768 (recommended by machine) and the scaling level is set all the way to the left at "smaller". I have a windows 8.1 operating system. I just want to know if I need to change a setting or if this is just an odd issue that hopefully won't be too widespread. I checked the files on my old machine and the rectangle is correct so there is definitely something funny going on. 

I am still on Storyline 1 update 8.
