just recently Articulate introduced new, built in variables for tracking the slide number. Have you see them and tried to use?
And re the progress bar- I was using different shapes and solutions for different courses - you can manually add an image to increase the progress bar elements. But with the new, built-in variables it should be much easier, as the trigger to change the progress bar can be placed now on the master slide and do all automatically.
I agree with Adam on using the prebuilt variables available in Storyline 360's slide numbers feature. Check out Allison's post on how you can use this new feature to create a progress bar: Storyline 360 Visual Progress Meter

Hello, Sam!
