Publishing error
Apr 09, 2014
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. My course published fine and I tested it, and needed to make some changes. Now when I go to publish it, it goes through the 'generate slides' and then goes back to the publishing screen and nothing happens. The folder is created but there are no files in it. You don't get the box to view project or zip the files.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Carolyn,
You'll want to confirm that you're publishing to a local drive, with a file path below 260 characters as described here.
If you're still having difficulty after checking into those elements please let us know.
Thank you so much Ashley for your help, however i've shortened the file name in case that was causing a problem and have saved the output to a new folder, but still Storyline is generating the slides, but then stops and goes back to the publishing screen.
This is an image fo the total output in the new folder.
Hi Carolyn,
In addition to the file name, did you check the file path that you're publishing too? You'll want to make sure first that it's a local drive where your file is stored and being published to, and that the file path such as C:/Documents/MyArticulateProjects is well under the 260 character count, as publishing adds characters.
Thanks Ashley. A strange thing happened when I opened Storyline this morning I was prompted to install the latest update, I did this and then the publishing worked fine. I hadn't changed the local folder naming or anything, but the main thing is that its fine now. Thanks again for your help.
Thanks for the update Carolyn and I'm glad everything is working as expected now.
