I work with a lot of clients that have their own version of SL and haven't upgraded yet. Once I hand over their source files they need to be able to edit them in SL1.

Same here, I also have a TB drive and really do not worry about hard disc space
I'm having a problem where S2 is chronically slow and I'd made the assumption that it was because i have both installed. I've just checked and I have 800gb free so I think it's safe to say it's not because i have both installed.

You can safely have both installed.
Check your task manager while running SL2 and check for memory consumption. Chances are, you'll find the culprit.
Hi Howie
I am running through Parallels Desktop on my Mac and upped my RAM to 20GB - 16GB allocated to Parallels...works a treat
Just wanted to chime in that I have both installed for same reasons described. No issues. PC, Windows 7.
I also have both installed for the same reasons and am not having any problems. I have a PC running windows 7 and have a TB drive.
