Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to share that we have released Storyline 360 version 72 (Build 3.72.29654.0).
Included in this release is a new feature where you can let learners explore at their own pace by choosing a course playback speed between 0.25x and 2x.
Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let us know if you have any questions by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
Have a great day!

I completely agree with Robert. Variable playback for videos only won't be much help. I need it applied to the whole timeline.
Agreed. We need it for the whole project.
This discussion thread has a history of 6 years and still, this feature is yet to implement! with no clear visibility of when we will have it. Wow.
Yeah, Parashuram, I can't tell if they don't want to do it, or if they are unable to do it...
For a topic that has been going on for more than 5 years, I am a bit surprised by the lack of response from the Articulate people. Variable playback speed is used by all experienced e-learning users, so why not have it in the Articulate player?
Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to share that we have released Storyline 360 version 65 (Build 3.65.28121.0) today!
Included in this release is an enhancement where all learners are enabled to interact with videos via accessible controls that match the modern player style, exceed color contrast guidelines, and communicate perfectly with screen readers. Learners can even change the playback speed, switch to full-screen mode, and use picture-in-picture mode to move videos to a floating window.

This is good, but when will we see integrated video + timeline speed controls? I've published a kludgy way of handling the video speeds here, but it works outside the timeline. People have been asking for this for years.
I hope that this is only a step towards variable playback speed for the whole project as this is of very limited use to us (we generally host our videos outside of the Storyline project).
It also makes the lack of overall playback speed more jarring to learners when they can control the playback speed of the videos but not the overall training.
The playback speed feature for the video is a great enhancement. It will be great if the speed feature is incorporated to the overall project as well. As part of the course navigation bar.
Adding my vote to this request as well!
I've updated to the latest version of Storyline, but I'm still not seeing the new accessible controls such as playback speed or full-screen mode. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
Hi Kevin,
You'll need to enable the video controls for your video to access the new features.
Hope this helps!
Hi
Thank you very much for your contribution; however, I would like to know how I can add to the code so that the speed of the slide is saved and the next slide will respect the speed used in the previous slide.
Thanks Ali.
@JoeTansengco will this feature be set at the Shoryline Player Properties level?
Its awesome! that its finally added but its so hidden.
Hi Fernando,
Thanks for your input on moving the video controls to the Storyline player properties! Currently, there are no plans to make that change. I'll be happy to pass your thoughts on to our product team, but you can also feel free to detail them in a feature request.
John, this is quite frustrating. Both Math and I have posted workarounds to this video speed issue, and this has been requested for years by all sorts of clients here. Captivate has the Fluidic player now— when would we be able to see something like that for Storyline?
AGREE! We're also really looking forward to having this option!
Stacy
Hi, I would like to change the playback speed for training because a slide includes important information and Brian reads the text too fast.
Thanks
Text to speech in storyline (Brian) is done with Amazon Polly

@articulate developer there is a function to change the speed - please use the function

Hello,
I think when I listen to training and when make training.

Thank you for the Amazon Polly reference, Jurgen; I was not familiar with it.
You seem to say that an audio playback-speed function is available within Storyline ("@articulate developer . . . please use the function.") Is this something that could be activated when using Amazon Polly? Is it something existing that Articulate simply needs to turn on? Or are you requesting Articulate to add the audio playback-speed function using SSML provided by Amazon for Polly speed controls?
Hi Marty, did you find a solution for the audio speed? I did all the solutions I found in this thread, but no luck.
Do you have anything new?
Hi Mayra,
No solution yet for audio speed control within the timeline; only for audio within a video file (with the new Articulate update).
Mayra,
Thanks for checking, but I did not ever get to my intended outcome.
The best I could achieve, before needing to move to other projects was to speed up a video file that is embedded on the page. For whatever reason, was never able to do just audio....
My thought, which I was not able to try, was to save an audio clip as an MP4 (that does not have "pictures," but don't know that this would have worked either.
I would still love to see if someone is able to achieve this and perhaps share a file that we may be able to use to re-create as needed for our personal usage.
Hi folks,
From the looks of it, this feature to control playback speed of the course is coming? So that sounds promising. Finally :)
