I just tested it again and if you have a short timeline on your quiz slides like 1-2 secs and the slide set to advance automatically that is causing the slides to skip quickly.
My current scenario is basically what Isabelle describes initially. But I'd like to know if adding the trigger to "hide layer when timeline ends" is the best solution.
I have implemented this change to my "correct" layers in the attached file that ends with "hide layer..." While adding this trigger does stop the review slides from auto-advancing, I'm left with a very unattractive highlight on the text in the text entry boxes.
If Isabelle's solution is the best way to proceed, is there a way to get rid of the highlight? Also, in the 2nd attached file (which is the original version, prior to adding the "hide" trigger), the slide that asks for the Date of Service works properly without any intervention. All slide advance options were left in their default state and no additional triggers were added. So, does anyone have any ideas as to what makes this one slide different from the others? And can what manages this slide be put into action for the others?
This thread is a bit older and I don't know that I could say one way is better than an other, as it's more about personal preference and set up.
In regards to the issue with your particular file, I'm not sure I'm seeing the highlight. Does it only appear when you are correct/incorrect? Is it on all the slides?
The text in the text entry box is highlight (black background, white text) when reviewing the quiz. I believe this is because the text entry box has the focus when each slide is entered...again, only during review of the quiz...not while taking the quiz. Because the last 2 questions utilize an image in the slide master, and the image has a black background, the issue I'm noting is not obvious on these 2 question slides...only the first 2.
Please let me know if you still don't see the highlighted text. Thanks!
Ok - I saw the highlight, but only when I answered correctly. Oddly enough I removed the trigger to hide the correct layers when the timeline ends - as they were already hiding the incorrect normally - and then the highlight disappeared. Can you take a look at this version and let me know how it behaves for you?
The file you sent does not behave correctly. Remember...
"I have implemented [the trigger to hide] my "correct" layers...[in order to] stop the review slides from auto-advancing,
If the trigger is taken out, the slides auto-advance during the review process, which is not acceptable behavior. However, as you saw yourself, when this trigger is in play, the focus lands on the text in the text entry field, which is what causes the highlight of the text.
I'm OK if there is no way to move the focus to the end of the text string (which I'm anticipating is the case). But I'd like to know for sure that we've explored every option on our end before accepting this as normal behavior.
I don't think there is another way around it - and if you didn't want the slide set up to auto advance you'd need to include some way in which the user can advance it. With the triggers you have right now, I don't see that as an option either - so I may be misunderstanding your set up as a whole?
I don't think you've misunderstand the set-up. In general, we have exactly what we want: After an answer is submitted by the learner, SL checks the answer, signaling correct or incorrect, and then auto-advances to the next slide. We also have the ability to review without an auto-advance during the review cycle. Our concern is simply the highlight on the learner's answer during the review cycle, and whether that highlight can be removed by moving the cursor to the end of the answer. I'm thinking that this cannot be done since there are no triggers (or other methods) currently available to place the focus at a specific point on the slide.
Correct - there aren't any other methods to change where the focus is. What about creating your own custom review slide layers? That may allow for all the elements that you want, although it is a bit more work to set up.

Hi Isabelle,
have you looked at the slide properties to see if the option Slide advances is set to 'automatically' or 'by user'.
Hi Isabelle
it shouldn't behave like that. Could you attach a sample file?

Thank you for your answers! I found the solution.
Actually the layers for correct / incorrect were set to "jump to next slide when timeline ends".
As I have chosen "automatically decide when revisiting", the review passed by these layers and jumped automatically to the next after a few seconds.
So I have just added a trigger "hide layer when timeline ends" before "jump to next slide when timeline ends".
Have a good day!
Glad to hear it Isabelle and thanks for sharing your update as well as your solution
