At Articulate, we’re constantly blown away by the amazing things our users create with our apps. And we love how you’re always encouraging us to take our apps even further. If you’re someone who enjoys pushing the creative envelope, here are some features you might want to consider using.

1. Create Timed Interactions and Report Time Spent to Your LMS

With elapsed time variables, you can track the total time a learner spends on a slide, a scene, or an entire course to create timed interactions and report information to your Learning Management System (LMS)

For more information on how to use this cool feature, check out these helpful resources:

2. Get More Detailed Tracking with xAPI

If you’re using a Learning Record Store (LRS) to track learning experiences at your organization, you’re going to be really excited about this feature. Why? Because it allows you to use your LRS to track your Storyline 360 courses. You can even define custom xAPI statements—such as “Maria interacted with Office Tour 360° Image”—and send them to your LRS. And to make it super-easy, we created a debug tool to help you troubleshoot your xAPI statements if they’re not working as expected. So helpful!

3. Work with JavaScript More Easily

While you don’t need to code to create custom courses in Storyline 360, it’s nice to have the option to extend Storyline’s capabilities with JavaScript. To make adding JavaScript to your course even easier, we added line numbers and syntax highlighting to the editor. See for yourself what a difference it makes by checking out the before and after screenshots below:

See how in the after screenshot, it’s easier to pick out each line of code and the different components that make it up?

The Bottom Line

With these powerful features, you can take your Storyline 360 courses to new heights. Did you make something cool that you want to share with the community? Leave a link to your project in the comments below!

  • All the features here are really useful, but the standout—for me—is the JavaScript editor. A simple but very welcome change.
