Why Rise 360 Is a Kick-Butt Multi-Device Authoring App
Smartphones and tablets are everywhere, and they’ve changed the way we learn. Employees can access the performance support they need right when they need it. But mobile learning can also present challenges for course creators.
One major challenge course creators face is the sheer number of different mobile devices. New models with their own technical specifications (screen size, operating system, etc.) come out all the time. How can you deliver an optimal learning experience, no matter what device your learner is using?
Some e-learning authoring apps require authors to customize layouts for different devices one at a time. When you do that, you’re basically creating the same course over and over again. What a chore.
We believe that technology, not course authors, should do the heavy lifting to ensure a great learner experience on every device, every time. That’s why we’ve developed Rise 360, a web-based authoring app for building inherently responsive (and visually stunning!) courses.
What makes Rise 360 different from other responsive authoring apps? Simply put, it makes creating responsive courses super easy. You can build courses right in your browser with the confidence that they’ll work automatically on any device with no additional effort on your part. And one of the amazing things about Rise 360 is how gorgeous every course looks. With Rise 360, you’ll get a professional, beautiful course every time.
Intriguing, right? Let’s take a closer look.
Quickly Build Responsive Courses in Your Browser
All you need is your web browser and your ideas. With no software to download, this intuitive web app is easy enough for anyone to use.
You can use course templates or start with a course outline and build each lesson as you go. It’s up to you. As your course evolves, you can make quick changes to the order of lessons anytime by dragging them wherever you want them.
Ready to see how it’ll look for your learners? Preview each lesson separately or view the course as a whole with just one click.
Create Gorgeous, Mobile-Optimized Lessons Easily
Rise 360 makes it easy to build e-learning quickly. And it’s not just for mobile. The content you create in Rise 360 works in any browser and on any device.
In addition to being mobile-friendly, Rise 360 courses are modern, elegant, and easy to brand. Just drop in your company colors, and you’re all set.
To build lessons in Rise 360, simply mix and match different learning blocks to create unique learning experiences.
Let’s look at a few examples of the different kinds of blocks you can mix and match to create lessons in Rise 360.
Scenario blocks give your learners the opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills they’re learning in your course in a realistic environment.
With process blocks, you can introduce your learners to a new process or procedure and walk them through it step-by-step in a way that’s interactive and engaging.
Labeled graphic interactions make it easy to give your learners a visual tour of an image or a diagram. Clickable markers can contain all sorts of media like text, images, audio clips, and even video from the web.
Present information in chronological order and include enhancements like audio, video, and gorgeous high-res, zoomable images when you use a timeline interaction.
Present new terms or concepts to learners in an engaging, lean-forward way with flipcard blocks. Use images on both sides, text on both sides, or mix and match. It’s up to you!
Help learners visualize data with pie, bar, and line charts. They’re a cinch to add with chart blocks.
Organize detailed data and information in table blocks to provide more context for learners.
Need to create a custom interaction for your course? No problem! You can create anything you can imagine in Storyline 360 and insert it into your Rise 360 course with the Storyline 360 block.
Allow learners to check their understanding or engage with your content more thoughtfully by adding multiple choice, multiple response, fill-in-the-blank, and matching knowledge check questions to your lessons. And with question banks, you can quickly add randomized questions.
Capture your learners’ attention by adding the engaging videos or practical screencasts you created with Peek 360 or Replay 360.
As you can see, building beautiful courses with engaging, interactive content is a snap with Rise 360. And this list only scratches the surface! There are tons more block types available, and we’re adding more all the time. Stay up to date on the latest releases on our What’s New page.
Use Templates to Get a Jump Start
But what if you don't have time to arrange blocks into lessons or even research content? Don't worry; we've got you. You can create world-class courses in Rise 360 without writing any content or arranging a single block. All you have to do is browse the template library, find a course template, and deploy.
Real content course templates are fully-realized courses, carefully researched and thoughtfully arranged. They cover a wide variety of business topics, from diversity training to IT security and more. There's also a myriad of courses from Next Big Idea Club that let you enrich your offerings with an insightful approach that helps your learners improve themselves and engage deeply with the world around them (kind of like TED Talks, but in Rise 360 lesson format).
Don't need a full course? You can also choose individual lessons. All of the real content and Next Big Idea Club course templates have individual lesson templates that can be added to your existing course. You can also assemble a course from disparate lessons right from the library.
There's also placeholder content course templates when you have your own content but could use a jumpstart in terms of course outline and block placement. Need a brand messaging guide? A compliance handbook? Maybe training on bloodborne pathogens? Yes, we've got that and dozens more.
All of our templates have been created with versatility and customization in mind. If something doesn't fit your needs, cut it out or make edits. If you want to add your own lessons or blocks, go right ahead. You're also free to simply add your organization's name and logo to the course and publish the template as-is. It's the fastest possible way to create a course in Rise 360.
Give Your Learners the Freedom to Learn Anytime, Anywhere, on Any Device, in One Click
Publishing your course is a breeze. Every course you create in Rise 360 adapts automatically to every smartphone, tablet, and computer. You don’t need to call IT or spend hours manually tweaking your course to fit every screen size or account for every breakpoint. You can even preview your course and choose different devices and screen orientations to see how your course will display.
Lessons authored in Rise 360 are inherently responsive without sacrificing your content. Your course content reflows to fit the screen on any device your learner is using, without you having to do anything beyond creating the course.
All lessons authored in Rise 360 are xAPI, SCORM 2004, SCORM 1.2, AICC, and cmi5-compliant, so they play seamlessly in your LMS.
What makes Rise 360 so awesome? It’s fast, simple, responsive course authoring, done right.

Hi - thanks for what appears to be a great new tool! I am a long-time Articulate (Presenter, SL1 and SL2) user, but a customer wants to use Rise for its responsiveness; having their courses display well on mobile devices is of primary importance to them. With that in mind, I need to know (before I buy and start using it, in a limited contract time-frame): 1) Is there a limit to number and size (in MB/GB) of how many videos can be supported in a course done in Rise? They have a LOT of video content for the course. 2) Can I do any video interactivity in Rise, as is possible in SL2? 3) Can Rise publish to SCORM 1.2 so they can host it on their own server? 4) Can I access the content files and pull Rise work into SL2? 5) They have specific fonts and icons they want to use.
