Storyline: Video Editing Software Simulation
Need inspiration for introducing learners to a complex piece of technology? In this guided simulation, you’ll see a creative way to give learners a step-by-step overview of the typical controls they’ll use in video editing software.
Want to try building something similar in Storyline 360 but don’t have Articulate 360? Start a free 30-day trial.

- garrygent-928afCommunity MemberNice. User friendly.
- DanSweigertCommunity MemberThanks Gazzman, that's great to hear!
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroNicely done, Dan! The complexity of this had to be huge, but you made it work!
- DanSweigertCommunity MemberThanks Jackie! Yes, it took a while to figure out how to make it work especially when it came to letting the user practice and see the results they would expect as they're not really using the program itself, just a simulation of it.
- IanBell-4cb7dd3Community MemberThat is excellent thanks Dan. Simple instructions, logically broken down but highly effective. I am about to start a complex project for a client and this has helped enormously.
- DanSweigertCommunity MemberIan, that's so great to hear! It means a lot to me to hear that someone is getting some practical help they can apply to one of their current projects.
- PaulLush-222253Community MemberVery nice! I like the applicability and simplicity!
- DanSweigertCommunity MemberThank you Paul!
- REricSmithCommunity MemberDid you make the video tracker in SL, or is part of the sample video?
- DanSweigertCommunity MemberR. Eric, I'm not sure what you mean by the video tracker. But I can tell you that I did not use Storyline to make a video of the screen. I put it all together using a combination of screenshots and video, which ultimately were all put together in Storyline on various slides and layers. Does that answer your question?
- REricSmithCommunity MemberYes. I was talking about the meter track at the bottom that advances when the video plays. I was wondering if you used SL to make that, because I've wanted to make something similar, like a progress bar.

- CharlesThompsonCommunity MemberGreat simulation. Thank you for sharing.
When looking at a complex interface like that, it would be great if you set Storyline to "resize browser to fill screen" and "scale player to fill browser window" in the Storyline Player settings. As it stands now, the course fills only a tiny fraction of my large monitor.- DanSweigertCommunity MemberThat's a great idea Charles. I think I'll do that!
