Rise 360: Glossary of Marketing Terms

In this example, I used timeline blocks to create a standalone glossary of marketing terms. Using a timeline interaction gave me a beautiful way to present terms and definitions accented with media like images, embedded video, and even audio pronunciations of words.

Thank you for this example. But this is an entire course. What I believe most people are asking for is a way for a glossary of terms to be available within their regular courses. Is that a possibility? I worked with a proprietary course-building software in the past that had a marvelous feature for hover/click on vocabulary words to pop up a box with definition and even image if desired! A glossary word review "slide" was then produced at the end of that section. Ah, to have something like that again would be SO helpful.

This is great. We did something similar - a couple of the letters didn't have any content so we rolled them up like A - C, E - J etc. Worked really well.

I like the effort here but the "visual types" would need to see the listings of A's, B's, etc. Is this possible?

Hi Harry. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "visual types." You can see the entire list of letters in the sidebar menu and click on whichever one you want. Maybe I'm misunderstanding?

I guess what I'm saying is that there's a whole lot of scrolling to see the titles...versus what I've attached. This is one of the reasons why I had previously posted (elsewhere) about having sub sections of sections.

At this point in time, we seem to be at a juncture of trying to make a new thing work as good as something that already worked perfectly. I am especially interested in this particular exercise because just the other day I went back to get what I'm attaching...a glossary that I need.

At this point in time I think the Engage glossary is superior as far as getting from A to B.

Oops...seems that I can't add an attachment. It was a glossary from Engage.
    Regards,
    Harry Carter

Hi again, Harry. I'm so glad you're finding the Engage Glossary so useful. That horizontal layout is nice for minimizing scrolling. But I think some folks might appreciate this concept, too. Sorry, it's not a good fit for your needs!

        Trina,
I think what it comes down to is...
If it could do what pretty much every other contact/glossary list on earth could do...then it would be a winner for us. The ability to have sub directories (which a number of us have asked for) and also, the ability to search...would allow the concept to rival what is already proven to be good.

        Push those things!

        Regards,
        Harry Carter

Jeff, Exactly. This concept was pretty much standard in Engage.

  • Hi Trina! This is excellent! When I click to download to my dashboard, it does not download properly. Do you know if there is another way to receive the template?

    Thank you!!

Hi Colleen. I've seen some occasional issues with this copy feature. I know our team is looking into those. I'll go ahead and try sending you a copy, manually. Let me know if you run into any problems with it!

  • Hi Trina, thanks for shearing such a great resource!

one quick question, is there any way we can hide the course completion progress bar (located under the title and above the menu)?
  • Hi, Trina - the template did not show up for me either - would you please share? Thanks much for sharing this.

Hi Stacy. Sorry to hear that the copy course link didn't work for you. I've tested it on my end and I'm not having any trouble with it. I can try sending it to you manually. Stay tuned!
