- AlexanderSalas9 years agoCommunity MemberWow Jane, that's a technically beautiful sample. I love the setup and illustrations. You have set the bar way high on this one ; )
- jeff9 years agoCommunity MemberVery professional! Your voice sounds really good and the recording is super clean. Thank you for your tips!
- JoannaKurpiewsk9 years agoCommunity MemberGreat voice, Jane and fantastic step-by-step guide on working with voice over!
- EJLeBlanc9 years agoCommunity MemberReally liked the interactivity here. Felt like a kid making the weird noises into the mic. Good fun!
- NancyWoinoski9 years agoSuper HeroWow Jane, what a a great voice. I am so jealous!
- AndrewSellon9 years agoCommunity MemberI hope I already commented on the Soundboard project--great fun, and love the choice of poem! ;-)
I really enjoyed the audio setup tour, and especially like that you took the time to explain the "why" as well as the "how." I work in Audacity the same way--a real timesaver, isn't it? Two small comments: at one point you say "...popped Ps or other fricatives" and of course "P" is a plosive. A small script tweak and you could cover mentioning both plosives and fricatives. Also, I tend to always look for a navigation bar to skip forward/back. I realize it was probably a choice not to include it, but I guess I'm putting in a vote to have one.- JaneMaduke9 years agoCommunity MemberThanks for the great feedback, Andrew. I appreciate your time and engagement! Had I stopped to think about it, I would have known P is a plosive not a fricative. These challenges aren't suppose to take as long as this one did and I felt under pressure to get it done! I'm sure you know the feeling! I love Audacity... still can't believe it's free. And tough luck on the nav bar. ...Not sure I even thought about it. I will next time though! :D
- PaulAlders9 years agoSuper HeroWell done Jane. Thanks for sharing your insights and work space for creating a good voice over!
- JackieVanNice9 years agoSuper HeroI'll just pile on to what the others have said and add my own "Fantastic job, Jane!" :-D
I know you said it took longer than you were hoping, but it's a great tutorial/demo to have in your pocket whether you're helping someone else learn to do it or simply explaining your own process.
Oh - and I like your tip to cough so you can easily see edit points. Though less deliberate, I get the same effect with "Arrrrgh!", "Pffft", and "Hahahahaha!" - DanSweigert9 years agoCommunity MemberHey Jane, thanks for sharing your knowledge. There's a lot of useful information in here, like the idea of speeding up the audio a bit at the end. And I was not aware that there is a foam type noise blocker to go behind the mic, I've always just used a pop screen in the front. Very informative!
