OK OK so I DO sometimes watch rom-coms. Here's one with a sting in its tail (with apologies to Ms Ryan and Mr Hanks)

- OMG. Such a great graphic novel with some "liive action" at the end. This was fun, Nick. Did you use PowerPoint or another graphic editor to create the cartoon look and feel?

To answer your question Ron, I did the graphic transformation in After Effects. First I downloaded the footage and then applied a special 'cartoon effect' in After Effects. The calibration options are endless, so I fiddled with them for a bit until I was more or less satisfied. After that I wanted to achieve a pixelated print effect which I did by applying a mask overlay on the footage. I then took screen shots of specific frames to create my comic story and concluded with a bit of footage to showcase the 'kiss'. I also had a bit of fun creating the trailer notice. I created that in Photoshop and imported into After Effects to add the speckles and 'distressed' feel. I also added a wiggle effect to make it
look as if a projector was playing. I had a lot of fun making the story and spent quite a lot of time refining and editing the text.- Wow, that is a lot of work, but the end product is more than worth it. Thanks for sharing your process.
