I spent President's Day developing this project. I attempt to put you in the place of a resident of Oakland, California as they travel cross-country to attend the March on Washington in 1963.
This project brings the music of that period and photos of the trip culminating in the speech by Dr. King.

- Samuel4 years agoCommunity MemberGreat technique, Ron. All worked for me. Even more brilliant is that you've chosen to highlight an important moment in history.

- JenniferEdgerto4 years agoCommunity MemberWhat a timely submission and unique way of presenting it with the music of the times. Felt like a real road trip. Very nice work.

- carrietmills4 years agoCommunity MemberWell done, Ron. This was a super cool interpretation of an interactive map. Loved the music - great concept.
- Ron_Katz4 years agoCommunity MemberThanks, Carrie. It was fun to put together.
- JodiSansone4 years agoCommunity MemberGreat concept, execution and an important date in US history. I have to say I am also grateful for the British Invasion later that decade. :) My father used to sing that Allen Sherman song to us.
- Ron_Katz4 years agoCommunity MemberAllen Sherman was an early version of our Weird Al Yankovich. Homer & Jethro and Allen Frieberg were also famous at that time for spoofing other people's music (mixing comedy with music).
- AmyPalian4 years agoCommunity MemberGreat work, as always, Ron. I love your choice of songs in the background and the use of a slider to drive across the country. It was very informative, fun, and engaging.
- Ron_Katz4 years agoCommunity MemberHi Amy, thank you. The songs were actually the Top 25 Hits for the week of August 30, 1963. You can find the whole list under resources.
- JeffreyRiley-9e4 years agoCommunity MemberGreat presentation Ron. The music, the time period in history. What a nice way to experience this event and maybe get others interested in knowing more. 1963 has a lot of memories for me.
- Ron_Katz4 years agoCommunity MemberThank you for the kind words, Jeffrey. My memories of 1963 are limited as I was born in April the previous year. But I do love a lot of the music from that era.
