I know what you mean about PowerPoint. I consider myself an expert too and it did seem to make some of the tasks in Storyline a lot easier to learn. … but then other things were more challenging, especially when I had trouble finding any instruction about some of it.
I've been working with Storyline for about 9 months now and I'm still learning new stuff, though the basic tasks go much faster for me now.
I also would caution about relying on YouTube videos for your Storyline learning. I had sent my coworker a link to an eLearning Heroes webinar about variables. Instead of using that, he did a Google search and followed someone's YouTube video. He thought he had the navigation routine working correctly. But when I tested it more vigorously, it was not working and upon digging into the variables and triggers (modeled from that YT video) it really didn't make sense the way they were teaching! After that I suggested that we should stick to following the instructions from people who Articulate has designated to teach their products, rather than some random self-identified elearning expert.
