Pantone COTY Portfolio
Demo:
https://bit.ly/3qJC6eaI'm sharing a template I use to showcase my work with potential new clients during a pitch. I'm curious about your reactions to it.
I collect a set of projects that I believe match the client's needs or interest. I present it to them via Zoom or in person where we can talk about why and how each of the examples was developed and how the approach can be applied to their project. By sharing the projects with them I get to gauge their reactions and learn more about what they want and expect. Sometimes they don't know and talking with them helps bring their needs to the surface. I usually show them something "expected" and then something more extreme just to test the waters with them.
For this demo I used my favorite ELH challenges--the Pantone Color of the Year challenges, but the template works with any set of projects. It is an interaction that highlights each project and then uses web objects to pull in the samples. Basically it is a collection of stories within a single storyline file. If I were pitching a hedge fund for compliance training, I would use completely different examples.
Most times I get work through existing clients or people who have referred me, so I don't really leverage my website. I never tell a potential client "go take a look at my website" for this reason-- I want to demonstrate interest in their needs, so I say "Let me put something together for you." I'd rather make the effort even if I don't get the work.
I'm looking forward to seeing all your portfolios! I'll look at them over coffee tomorrow morning! :)
